Now that we have travelled inland for almost a week, we start test drilling some of the lakes to check if the ice is safe enough to walk on. Even though the winter has been bad in terms of little snow, the temperatures seems to have been cold, cause the ice is mostly over a meter … Continue reading Checking the ice conditions

Grounded by the weather
For the last couple of days we have had sunny weather all day, but things change quickly in the mountains and now we have been stuck in camp for 2 days by heavy winds and zero visibility. That’s no stress for us, our tent can handle heavy winds and we have plenty of good food … Continue reading Grounded by the weather
Storage shed hotel
We got a tip from some locals that the local youth camp at Knaben had some shelters up in the mountains. We headed that way to see if we could make use of the shelters for one night. After battling through a blizzard for many hours, we finally got to the mountain camp. But all … Continue reading Storage shed hotel
Knaben mining town
Today we arrived at Knaben, an old mining town that was active from 1885 until 1973. The mines where important for the Germans during WW2 because of the mineral Molybdenum, which is very important in the production of Bratwurst… Just kidding, but it is important in the production of high strength alloys, like armor plating. … Continue reading Knaben mining town
Heading towards Haukeliseter
After staying at Eftestøl for 3 nights, we now start heading towards Haukeliseter. The snow conditions are not great, but more than good enough to start using our skiing equipment. Our main problem now is that we have to go around every lake, since the ice is very treacherous and unreliable right now. This makes … Continue reading Heading towards Haukeliseter
Planning ahead
Our next goal is to reach a place called Haukeliseter (about 200 km further north). We are planning on doing this in around 20 days, without any resupplying along the way. This requires having 7 days worth of extra food, since we normaly carry 14 days of food before resupplying. The load will be heavy, … Continue reading Planning ahead
First destination reached
We have now reached our first destination: Eftestøl, where we have left our skiing equipment for the next leg of our journey. Since the winter here in Norway has been awful this year, we had to go far inland to find enough snow to use our skiing equipment. Luckily, we found this lovely place up … Continue reading First destination reached
Finding our own path
We always try to avoid walking along normal roads, staying as much as we can out in the wilderness. This way we will always find the mysterious and forgotten places, where nature and time has started to reclaim the things that are man made.
All kinds of weather
Since we started the trip we have had all kinds of weather (sun, rain, snow, you name it). But it does not stop us, nor bring our spirits down, we keep marching happily on our own.
Route planning
Through my vast knowledge of living outdoors (practically on my own), I can learn these apes to navigate through all the terrain you can find here in Norway. Until now there has not been much snow, but as we go further inland the amount of snow increased steadily.
